    Dystopian Daydreams Exhibit

Welcome to Café Sophistry’s first public exhibit, “Dystopian Daydreams.”

The mind always tells itself stories, even in the darkest situations. VR audiences flock to dystopian worlds. Is occupying apocalyptic aftermaths an act of coping, or cleansing and innocence? Do creators enjoy “exploiting decay” for its dynamic beauty?

Please join the Café Sophistry creators as we play with the Dystopian Daydream. Through April 2, 2017.

    Dystopian Daydreams 2

    Ferris Wheel at OUTBREAK

    Greetings,

The abridged transcript for our first Café Sophistry Dystopian Daydreams session is now available. Thanks to all participants – it was a great conversation and journey through Outbreak and Once Upon a Fairy Tale.

Please note, our next meeting is Sunday, March 12 at 9am SLT. Please bring a new creation along the lines of our discussion topic, which was essentially “regeneration from destruction.” We were philosophical and all mediums are good, but we also discussed creating a simple “dystopian” piece such as a texture, furniture, or other item simply as a stylistic challenge (if you’ve not tried that). Thanks again.

Everything is Part of Everything Else: Two Parties

There are two parties at Low-Fi and Edie’s Farm the weekend of September 12, in honor of the work people have been doing, are doing, or just want to try to pull off on the spot. This is a semi-casual gathering for SL artists, performers, and friends to enjoy our dreams and process. Please bring a finished or in-process work to show or discuss. If you have an installation at Low-Fi or The Farm you can “show” that. This is a low pressure but hopefully interesting forum for all interested.

    • Saturday September 12, 7pm SLT
    • Sunday September 13, 9am SLT

    Location:  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/LEA28/211/85/22

If you plan on attending and need anything special, please leave a comment below or contact Newton (lex.perdide) or RMarie Beedit (rmarie.beedit)

Time is a fluid condition which has no existence except in the momentary avatars of individual people. There is no such thing as was – only is.

Can time be manipulated? Why does it sometimes pass more quickly? Does the time  you put into your virtual life mean something different?

All this and more on Sunday at 8am SLT, Nostradamus 9.
