Haiku Speedbuild normally uses haiku, but today we used romantic pop song lyrics (“romantic” as in “romanticism,” not as in “love song”). Participants pick 1 of 4 poems which they can buy for L$0 and then set it on their building pad. There are a lot of great SL starter avatars. Eventually you want to look different either to express yourself better, or just to not have a common avatar. Some years ago we did an event where we went to Welcome Areas and tried to be helpful to new avatars. A few hours of trying to explain inventory and wardrobe by typing can be tiring, but it’s nice to actually help someone who’s new and confused find their way in a foreign world. I only got to twist 2 prims today. Although I wasn’t necessarily planning on participating, so it’s 2 prims more than I had planned on. It’s also the first 2 prims I’ve twisted in 3 years. It was a nice feeling to play with prims again. And, of course, frogs. A really nice day visiting with friends old and new, twisting prims, and having the chance to help someone new and confused have a bit better experience in a funny world that means so much to so many of us.
