    Eggs Over Easy

The movie location for Sunday’s upcoming movie filming is LEA 19, The Egg, by Livio Korobase. Four people have already made videos of it, and the films are all great. But, no one has featured the free egg avatar that Livio provides. We will need at least three  eggs for a one-minute dance performance. Can you help? For those preferring to watch the eggs dance, Antsue suggests wearing blue clothing to match the blue in the mandalas which cover the ground. Snapshot_007

I want your help to make an abstract collage in the Babel sandbox. Please add a shape or two to the canvas. I will take a picture of it when it looks like a modern masterpiece. And then we can begin another one.

AlexLois gave a concert at Medici on Sunday. Apmel wrote about it and made a video,
    http://apmel.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-electro-evocative-glitch-music-of.html
And I made a video too. Neither of us was ready with our camera fast enough. We missed the first two spectacular effects, a flying pegasus, and blue letters falling from the sky.

We had a good trip to visit Mistero Hifeng’s beautiful sims. Elle, Pearl, Art, and Alex were there. I made a quick video with some snapshots. If I can get this link right, maybe you can see it.

Thanks Veyot – lovely documentary! I hope you can share it with MH too. This is a neat format for viewing and getting inspired by all artwork on the grid.

Thanks for organizing the tour Veyot, and for the machinima tips. I enjoy watching this video.

And how great that Mistero Hifeng wonderfully answered the questions we had for him.

    CREATIVE SAFARI TOMORROW
    MAY 26, 11 AM

Join a creative excursion to two beautiful sims by Mistero Hifeng. We’ll meet at LEA 29 and walk from one haunting statue to the next. We can choose our favorites, discuss sim design, windlight and mood. Mistero Hifeng has given us some notes explaining his work. We can take snapshots to hang in the MU gallery or port to MU Fine Arts group on Flickr. I have already posted some on Tumblr.

    http://veyot.tumblr.com/post/119099982315/blossomland-by-mistero-hifeng

When I go wild taking snapshots at a beautiful sim, I usually save them to disk and make a video for myself, using Fraps and Windows Movie Maker. I just drop the snapshots in, set time for 3 seconds, click automatic pan and zoom, and bingo. I have a movie. Well, its really a slideshow, but the panning and zooming makes it more interesting.

Have you tried the new snapshot filters on the viewer? I don’t do much photoshopping other than cropping, so the new filters are really useful. I hope we can share photography tips tomorrow. If you can’t go at that time, just search for LEA29 on the world map and drop into the beautiful landscape.

This will be a wonderful field trip Veyot. Thank you for leading it. I love your photographs and the content of the Q/A.

On Tuesday, May 26, at 11 AM, I would like to lead a photography trip to visit Mistero Hifeng’s artworks on two sims, LEA 29, and Blossomland. When we inquired about taking a trip there, he offered to answer questions about his work, but he speaks Italian, and would prefer to have questions on a notecard so that he could translate easier. I will post another notice about this trip, but today, I am looking for questions! If you had a chance to interview an artist who builds beautiful mesh statues, what would you ask?

    • Neeva 00:03 on 20/05/2015 Permalink | Reply

I would ask how they handle LOD issues so their beautiful works don’t collapse into ugly shapes when you back up from them. I’d ask them a thousand other techy, nerdy questions till they chased me away with a rake.

    • Newton 02:05 on 20/05/2015 Permalink | Reply

That’s a great question Neeva. “When building mesh objects, what are your best practices for catering to users’ different LOD settings?”

      For Mistero:

What are your favorite building tools?
What are your favorite training tools?
Which artists, games, and grids have inspired you? Are there places you go besides SL for 3d art and 3d art communities?

    • Elle 02:39 on 20/05/2015 Permalink | Reply

      More generally:

      What inspires your art?
What would you like viewers of your work to know about it?

    • veyot 13:15 on 22/05/2015 Permalink | Reply

Thanks for helping me prepare the questions! I sent them to Mistero and he has answered quickly and thoughtfully.

    BAOC Award

The best part of receiving the Big Avatar On Campus Award is being able to choose the next winner, and I choose Pearl Grey. I had been reading her blog, Million Happy Endings, for a long time, so I was happy to find her at MU. She now has a second blog to describe her adventures here. I have especially enjoyed her storyboard contests. If she is not in her studio, you might meet her at the Tai Chi place at MU. In honor of her writing skills, I added a pencil to the trophy. Congratulations, Pearl!

Laserskater, FeelsEmpty and I are planning an Artcar race, Friday at 11AM. You will receive the car through VBFriends mail. The first lap will be a pace car lap, around the Medici sim, and then drivers will rev up their wearable cars and race to the finish. Winner will have his portrait hung in the Mu Travel office. An evening race will be scheduled upon request. Prize ribbons also go to the best decorated cars.

So exciting Veyot, Laserskater & Feels Empty!

Will the Cars be going out in advance of Friday morning? So Rally Participants will have time to decorate?

The winner’s portrait hung in the MU/Travel office??That’s Gold!!

    • Neeva 16:31 on 01/04/2015 Permalink | Reply

I can’t make the race at that time, but I want to decorate a car. So much more fun than decorating an Easter egg.

Fantastic video Veyot!! Thanks so much for joining us and thanks for this wonderful document of our day!

It’s now on our official Dance Anywhere page!

    • Neeva 16:29 on 28/03/2015 Permalink | Reply

Oh I loved this so much. There are some really beautiful shots, and it seems like you slowed down the dances sometime which was really effective. It was so fun to see you all dancing at my studio around the big blue feet of muse’s and my collaborative sculpture.

I logged into the event on iPad, so couldn’t see where you were or what was going on, so your video really is my visual memory of the event. Thanks SO much for posting it!

Have you seen the vandalism done at MU? I was horrified when I saw these broken windows.
    vandalism at MU
My husband warned me when I enrolled at MU that I was too old to fit in with the students. The rock music and the flashing lights do bother me, but after all, I just can’t sit around and watch Dr. Oz everyday. Now, about these windows. Do you think it was ravers on their way home from late dances at Katyporryopolis?
    Love, Aunt Veyot

    • Izzy 14:54 on 23/03/2015 Permalink | Reply

“Vandalism” is often an entitled perspective. We tacitly allow money and power to colonize another culture. Then when this dominated and marginalized culture tries to reclaim itself, to push out the foreign invaders, to decolonize itself, they are called “vandals” and hauled off to trial.

Perhaps it is not the “vandal” who graffiti wrote on the “Disney Princesses” billboard who is the social ill, but The Walt Disney Company itself with it’s hegemonic imposition of gender and beauty stereotypes.

As there is no 5th of November in Spring Semester, I propose that we celebrate Guy Fawkes Night on the 5th of May!

    • Oona 20:06 on 23/03/2015 Permalink | Reply

lol @ watching Dr. Oz. But I think one is never to old to learn.
