Z is for Zebra and Ze End

    Dear Ryan,

    Z is for Zebra

I wasn’t a fan of blogging before I started this challenge. I might have been kinda negative about them, cause everyone and their cat has a blog. Some people have many more, not that I know any of those people. o_O

I’m glad you asked me to blog with you. It was fun, hard, time consuming and rewarding. Thank you.

And although I was prepared to go another round with you in May, you need a break, so I’ll be grateful I can relax for a bit, until you decide to stop being a wuss and do another one with me. 😛

    xo Oona

Today, the university had a meeting where I showed the pictures drawn by magic. Leading gave me the right direction and I was able to make a unique video. The video recorded by a miracle. Below the video.

Of what use is freedom of speech to those who fear to offend?

“I begin to feel like most Americans don’t understand the First Amendment, don’t understand the idea of freedom of speech, and don’t understand that it’s the responsibility of the citizen to speak out.”

“Clouds do not really look like camels or sailing ships or castles in the sky. They are simply a natural process at work. So too, perhaps, are our lives.”

I loved this man. His best statement by far is:

“To make others less happy is a crime. To make ourselves unhappy is where all crime starts. We must try to contribute joy to the world. That is true no matter what our problems, our health, our circumstances. We must try. I didn’t always know this, and am happy I lived long enough to find it out.”

    Free Online Writing Course

Hi there. Elle brought this to our attention a couple of weeks ago, but I wanted to remind everyone that The Open University is offering a free creative writing course online for the month of May (it began yesterday). There are a few things to do each week (5 minute video, short paragraph to read, and writing exercises – with opportunity to post them for feedback), totaling around 3 hours. You can join or leave at any time, and aren’t compelled to finish each section if you want to jump around. I am going to give it a shot. I’m a little busy for getting into it hardcore, but I’d like to keep the creative juices flowing. If you’d like to join here is a link https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/start-writing-fiction and maybe you can share your written exercises on MU/Stories?? 😉

    • Art 06:02 on 29/04/2015 Permalink | Reply

I completed this course just before getting involved with MU. Its fantastic! And very flexible how involved you want to get. I will say that realistically I spent much more time with the course than their estimation, but I was doing all the tasks and reading/responding to other peoples work daily. Definitely an enriching experience and there are loads of other great courses too!

    • astrid 15:42 on 29/04/2015 Permalink | Reply

Awesome! Glad to hear some positive feedback from someone who has done it before!

    MU and Atlantis

I know where Atlantis. I talked about this in class about the history. It is located in the Gulf of Aden and the topic of piracy in the region. Below is the link you can find the map in the second Life, where is Atlantis. I propose to find her. If we find Atlantis, the MOU will become very famous. The problem in the location depth of 1 kilometer. But the powers that really need this card!

    Little Lost Prims :(

Did you know that sometimes objects go floating away?  Get lost, missing etc?  I walk around campus a lot cause its my job and cause its great here.  And I notice a lot of art debris that maybe you don’t know is there!  Its amusing really when you find a couch where it clearly was never meant to be.  😉

So since I’m walking around anyway I thought I’d call you all up and let you know I found some of  your little lost prims so you can come find them.  Poor little prims.  😛

Alternatively if you have Firestorm, you can do an Area Search.  If thats all too complicated the basics are this: click on World, then Area Search, then the Find tab.  Enter your sign in name in the Owner box and hit Search.  Some stuff you may need to walk around to find, because sometimes it takes longer to find stray things far far away.  But the basics are, it will list ALL your stuff on the sim (if you give it long enough and its behaving.)

This is a great way to find out how many sims you are using, without manually adding on fingers.  Just select all those listed items in the List window, right click and choose edit and it will tabulate how many collected prims that is.

Be sure not to do any editing in that window if you do that, just close it and go on your way.

By anyway.  The poor little lost prims I’ve noticed I’ll list by nearest location.  And I’m not prim shaming!  This is just environmental clean up!  If the stuff I list is actually art, just disregard, what do I know anyway.  😛

Hmmm……for some of us who are living lives that are tragic and weirder than a mythology people might construct, this sort of playing to an audience doesn’t hold much interest unless it’s highly useful to our own real journeys.

    BAOC Award to Elle Thorkveld

    elle_baoc_1

I choose Elle Thorkveld as the next BAOC Award recipient. Elle has done tai chi at the dojo with me, has an amazing entry in the Cyberart contest at LEA 12, has been involved in GIMP classes, has written for my storyboard projects and now is assisting with the proposal to continue the spirit of Medici University in some form. She gives encouraging words to others and has participated in many projects, events and parties at MU.
Even with her talent and skills, she’s made time to give positive feedback for my efforts and this is what has made her stand out from many talented and productive learners. Not only has she been supportive in public forums such as this but she’s also been quietly welcoming and interested in how I’m doing on campus.
I’m rather in awe of her focus, consistency, ability to appear centered while stretching in different directions even more than she’d planned and juggling many things with apparent grace. For these reasons, and more on other levels, I’ve drawn a compass for her and added it to the award.
    Congratulations Elle!

HELP! Pretty Please Save Our University!

    If the Help Desk Thinks...

As talked in proposals and acquisitions or whatever with Vanessa,  I’ve decided to throw together a proposal to do Medici University 2.  I’m sure anyone could do a better job, but my idea was to canvas everyone and compile all the greatness and show them why this place is such a great gem.

Worse they can do is laugh but the best that could happen, and the scariest, is they could agree with me.

Anyway.  I need all of you to please pretty pretty please answer these questions for me and I’ll compile them up into one thing.  Along with our Flickr pics that show how much fun we have, and just general guilt tripping, maybe it will happen!

Notecards would be best (msbluerasp resident), but contact me in whatever way is easiest for you.

    1.  Is Medici University important to you and why?

    2. How did you come to be here?

    3. If you think back on the first day to now, do you see growth in yourself?

    4. Has being amongst like minded creators, improved the amount of time you work on your creative side?

    5. What specifically do you enjoy about Medici U?

    6. Honestly, what specifically do you not enjoy about Medici U?

    7. What would you like to see here at Medici U that isn’t already here?

    8. What would encourage you to spend more time here at Medici U?

    9. Do you think its a good idea to extend or renew Medici University for a second go around?

Please answer these, and notecard, IM or even answer below.  I’ll likely try to get the proposal all squished together first week of May so please get them in soon.  🙂

Thank you fellow student/party animals!  <3 <3 xoxo

P.S. If you only have time for fast and dirty answers, that helps too.

Thank you to Kyle James at Flickr for his CC photo.

Q is for Quiescent Mind. Plus, a little bit about the theme my series has taken on.

Following Oona’s lead, here’s my picture for letter Q. Q is for Quiescent Mind:

I’m so glad you are doing this challenge. I don’t think I’d be doing it if it wasn’t for you and the other people who are challenging themselves on Flickr. Its been so fun and surprising. And you definitely have been an inspiration. 🙂

Oh, my god. I’m blushing and so complimented. Thank you so much, Oona.

I love what everyone is doing who’s been doing this challenge. I see so much that’s personal and touching and amazing.in the work. And you can see how people are growing and their work is getting better.

I love R is for Regret. You used a simple title, but it’s so full of meaning and subtext. I feel I could write a book just from the inspiration of that one picture.

Wow Myra, your Q is for Quiescent Mind seems to share a little bit with my Q is for Queer Theory! 😀

I’m sure that’s where some of my inspiration comes from, Ryan. Marginalized groups, in particular, might be more attune to these ideas.

It’s also a popular theme in art, too. ; )

Thank you Myra. I’ve always been surprised when people assume we are striving to recreate ourselves in SL. Of course, our avatars contain essential components – sometimes unexpected ones – of our typists. But anyway, I love your photo and the notion the SL is a boundless expression of who we areand aren’t. x

Myra, your series could almost be a tarot deck. It illustrates such a variety of feminine archetypes. It is interesting to see this post juxtaposed with Vaneeesa’s post deconstructing the French Maid.

Thank you, all, so much for the beautiful thoughts and compliments. MU has been so good for me and that’s because of all the wonderful people I’ve met here. I never could have done these photos on my own.

      Love you, all. : )

Oh my email has been sending MU talk notifications to spam and I missed this. I love the image, Glad. And does the puppeteer pull the strings or does the puppet?. The law of gravity says it’s the puppet, at least most of the time.
