These past 4 years on his birthday, she’s found herself at the coffee shop playing pinball. Balls bounce against backstops and fly around crazily evoking more peace than a thousand empty night fields full of crickets and her unbearable imagining of him laying face down in the surf with too many other boys. But now, one last game and it’s time to move on. With pink hair, a chevy, and $56, anything can happen. (Nostalgia)

Great story! I’m sure she went on to live a fascinating life.
