    Welcome Week Machinima

Pearl created a great machinima on the first week (April 1 – 7) at MU CAA-VUP.  Features the architecture and some of the avatars who contributed to the virtual community.  Nice shots of the collaborative compound done by Pearl, Art, Klaus and Mr. Kaplan.  Thank you Pearl!

    Sail Inn Motel

Veyot has a new venture called the Sail Inn Motel. Since the grand opening, she has been blogging about it and the adventures of her two colorful guests: Ms. Frobish and Detective Pety.

I wonder how many writers are surprised by the way their characters act. I had no idea who would move into the motel and I have no idea what they will do next. I do notice that, with blogging, the story reads backwards, which confuses both the reader and the writer.

      • Elle 13:39 on 13/01/2017 Permalink | Reply

One could start reading at the begining of the story, or consider it a time jumping work of fiction. Your characters do seem to have a mind of their own. 🙂

The Popup Galleries section at the Art Farm is open! Galleries can be any medium. Show your work, display with friends, or let anyone add to your gallery. Your choice. Two weeks and then we start with new galleries and works. Add sculpture to the Sculpture Gallery or installations or other builds to the Large Exhibit Area. Some people have asked for information on Processing and Generative Art.  FutureLearn is offering a class on Creative Coding starting on August 3rd.

I also put together some information on Generative Art, Artists & resources (primarily Processing) at GenCreate. It’s sort of minimalist, but might be helpful.

    BAOC Award

It is hard to choose a new Big Avatar On Campus award winner from the many creative, involved individuals at MU, but one stood out to me and I select Newton. He has created an excellent series of classes with his Cafe Sophistry, which has already covered Gender and Virtuality and Time. Class sections start with an interesting philosophical discussion and end with the creation and display of art! In addition to facilitating the class, Newton has provided some delightful artistic entries and handled controversy in a graceful and thoughtful manner. I’m looking forward to the next section. Congratulations Newton!
