I just loved perusing the winners of the 2017 Fairy Tale Competition, appreciating the worlds created, the stories, the great presentations… And I loved imagining walking through them. Which are your favorites?
2017 Fairy Tale Competition Winners: http://blankspaceproject.com/#
In front of a live audience at the National Building Museum in Washington D.C., Blank Space, AIAS, and the National Building Museum announced the winners of the fourth annual Fairy Tales competition. With submissions from over 60 countries, the award-winning entries explore current events and the creative process through wonderfully crafted short stories and artwork.
Greetings,
The abridged transcript for our first Café Sophistry Dystopian Daydreams session is now available. Thanks to all participants – it was a great conversation and journey through Outbreak and Once Upon a Fairy Tale.
Please note, our next meeting is Sunday, March 12 at 9am SLT. Please bring a new creation along the lines of our discussion topic, which was essentially “regeneration from destruction.” We were philosophical and all mediums are good, but we also discussed creating a simple “dystopian” piece such as a texture, furniture, or other item simply as a stylistic challenge (if you’ve not tried that). Thanks again.

Hi Newton,
That was a great workshop with a fun fieldtrip. Thank you for posting this. Looking forward to the next one and seeing people’s artworks.
Always great to reconvene and see what people dream up, yes! Thank you again too Elle.
Newton, Mr. is hosting a Café Sophistry workshop on Sunday February 12 at 9 am SLT to examine “the Dystopian Daydream.” Virtual field trips are planned, learn more about it here:

Veyot made a video of the Dragon Procession at Burn2 Fire Moon, which celebrates the New Year of the Fire Rooster. Stop by today at Fire Moon to join activities and see the great exhibits, including Veyot’s beautiful installation with flags. Today, Sunday 29th is the last official day with activities, the exhibit will be up for you to visit for a week.

Veyot, Thank you for this video and thanks for the personal tour of Burn2.
Nice blog post highlighting some SL venues, including Veyot’s Sail Inn Motel and Tiffany Mosienko’s Art Study Group (yes, it is still going on!):
Some great suggestions of places to visit and things to do. Thank you Pearl!
Veyot has a new venture called the Sail Inn Motel. Since the grand opening, she has been blogging about it and the adventures of her two colorful guests: Ms. Frobish and Detective Pety.
Read about it here: http://veyot.tumblr.com/
And if you’d like to stop by: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Askja/149/7/21
I wonder how many writers are surprised by the way their characters act. I had no idea who would move into the motel and I have no idea what they will do next. I do notice that, with blogging, the story reads backwards, which confuses both the reader and the writer.
One could start reading at the begining of the story, or consider it a time jumping work of fiction. Your characters do seem to have a mind of their own. 🙂
Congratulations Elle! Sail Inn Motel is fantastic! 😀 <3
Hi Michel, I agree Sail Inn Motel is a fantastic project! 🙂 Congrats go to Veyot though, not me.
Hi guys! Hope everyone’s been happy, healthy & creative. I’m working on a proposal for a new LEA project… details coming soon! 😀
Whatcha all been up to?
Finishing up a indie film project, and dealing with being an Arts Commissioner in Santa Monica.

Keep up the great work Elle!
Thank you, Vanessa.
We haven’t been posting notes. Had a great chat on “Performance Art, Roleplay, and Performativity” last week.

Whatcha all been up to?
Mainland fetishism galore!
Who doesn’t love a little Mainland Fetishism!? 😀
Happy August, Edie.
Newton is continuing his Café Sophistry series. There is a get together on Sunday 7/17 at 9am SLT on the topic of “Mainland Modernism.” Share your MM projects, artist statements, or just hang out and enjoy the conversation. Thanks for sharing Elle. Go Newton! CS has become such a long running & compelling platform. So much progressive, insightful thinking, sharing & fun! 😀

You’ve impressed us all with that posting!
Now completes Art Farm Fall Session 2. Thanks to all who participated in our successful session.
Special thanks to facilitators: Cake, serra and Trilby, to helpers RMarie and Pearl and to Van, Tiffany and Jessica for hosting events.
Awesome work everyone. Enjoy art and creativity in the new year!
Unsanctioned Art Galleries are open. Galleries are self-service, any medium. Space is available. This session we have two group galleries: Memories is for display of photos from MU/Art Farm sessions. Innovations is for new work you’d like to share. Feel free to add your work.
Van Caerndow’s Drinking and Drawing class is on Mondays 8 pm SLT @ his gallery.
The Wednesday Art Study Group meets on Wednesdays 6 pm SLT for one hour of informal text chat, led by Tiffany Mosienko.
The Giant Studio, SLollywood and Write the Plank sections are all open too. Check them out, a lot going on this session!
Today Fall Session 1 Ended. There was a party on Sunday 11/08. People had some ideas about Fall Session 2, which starts on 11/21. Notes are in the attached note card and on MU Talk at http://mediciuniversity.co.uk/talk.
Edie is cc’d on all of us in case she has a different plan! Please chime in with your thoughts, changes, volunteering, etc.
Notes on Ideas for Fall Session 2 Areas:
Art Farm Giant Studio – would replace the Youth Hostel. The purpose of the Giant Studio is for people who want community and spontaneous collaboration to work together in a sandbox atmosphere. Serra Qendra would set up an initial structure/schedule for this area pending feedback.
Art Farm Writes the Plank – For writers, on Trilby’s ship. Events to be announced.
Art Farm Film Studios – An area for photography and machinima, with sets created by Art Farm participants. This area would have a similar logistical setup as the old pop-up galleries: 10-12 “plots” for individual participants’ sets which can be used by anyone for photos or filming. Depending on interest, different people could host sets over the 6 weeks, and individual sets can change. This area needs a main administrator to kick things off!
***** A reminder regarding the All Inclusive and Creative Commons policies:
Everyone is encouraged to set out YOUR full perm kits and information about your work for learning purposes. Creative Commons work is highly encouraged. All participants should expect photos to be taken of your work and published on blogs and in Flickr Art Farm group. Photographers, please credit the artist. Selling work on LEA land is not permitted.
rmarie, thank you for putting this together!
