Now to tidy up MU Talk a bit! 😀
I’m fixing up the MU website.
Wheee!
(OMG, about time! 😛
Hi, everyone! Hope you’re having a great Spring ’18! Hope 2CU in-world one of these days!
Thank you, Xue. Happy Spring to you too!
Thanks for this Xue. Handy info. I’ll try to update my profile and get a Gravatar pic up tonight.
😀
I’ve tried to link my MU blog in my profile five or six times now. I started yesterday and thought it might take a while to show up. I see the URL in the field and the “profile updated” but my previous comments look the same.
Oh I see; it will show up moving forward.
OIC Pearl, IDK that myself! 😀
So all new comments are good, then? But the older ones are “already baked” with the old info?
LMK if you have questions or if anything else comes up.
Happy Wednesday!
Yes; what you said. Thanks!
psst… if anybody’d like a cool photo icon instead of those blue, sideways “G” thingys, it’s super easy!
Just drop by
http://gravatar.com
Make a free account with the same email that you signed up on MU/Talk with, paste a photo there, and voila! Your awesome mug will populate all your stuff over here!
You can also get your gravitar icon through wordpress.com when you register on their site. You get a freebie blog, there, when you do, so it’s an option worth considering.
If your privacy is an issue – blogs often log IP addresses – consider trying CyberGhost. It’s free and mixes up your IP address for you.
Yes Myra! Going to Gravatar or WP.com is more-or-less the same thing. (they’re both from Automattic) either way will get you the same thing.
If you only want an Icon, just go to Gravatar. You can always have a blog at any time later, still free & easy.
If you’d like a blog, as Myra said, you can go to WP.com and do both. And of course, you can sign up for a free blog without any obligation to use it! :+]
Just a geek moment here – when you have Open Registration as we do here on MU/Talk, after a couple of days, the spambots find you and you’re flooded with bad registrations and spam posts. We’ve installed a “honeypot” that’s designed to block those registrations and it does block most of them. But some get through. So we manually delete those. If you register and find yourself unregistered the next day, just message Izzy or myself and we’ll fix that. Sorry for geek speak! And TY for your participation!
Thank you for the heads-up!
Hello all, I’m the webmaster here for Medici University & MU/Talk. I’m also a college student at King’s College in London, so I’m definitely not a pro, but if you have any website questions or need any help with anything, I’ll try my best.
Go MU!
Hello, Xue
I’m experimenting with web design and I have some very unusual pages. You can see how my web design is pleasant?
Hello Alexandre, is there a link or URL to see your experiments?
I do not give these links open viewing. I can give only privately in the world.
Thank you for taking on this important role. I have submitted a faculty application, however I noticed that in Google Chrome on Mac OSx, the application form seemed to just reload on submit. I’m not certain as to whether my inquiry was received. Sorry for the customer service annoyance, but I think i’m directing this to the right expert.
Hi Newton. So sorry about that! Did you restart Chrome & restart your Mac? That often helps! We use “Ninja Forms” which seems to work pretty well. I can try it out on Mac/Chrome tomorrow and see if I can replicate whatever happened for you. Did you try Safari?
We did receive a Staff application from, perhaps your sister, just fine. But sadly, I don’t see a Faculty application from you in the cue at this time. Keep me posted and I’ll see what I can sort out on this end!
TY / Sorry!
Thank you for your speedy response in this matter. Your answer regarding having not received it is tremendously helpful and I shall submit it anew in a different browser, posthaste. All the Best.

This is only a test!
The “Color Post” plugin sets a coordinating background for your post.
I don’t think there are any choices / settings.
Results may vary depending on your theme. In .Re/act’s case, you won’t see it on the home feed, but you will see it on any individual post that has at least 1 image.
It’s so cool!
Hello all! There was an update to Google Chrome which is temporarily not letting you post here. If you use Firefox, Opera, or most other browsers you’ll be fine till the Chrome issue is resolved. Also, if instead of using the “Whatcha up to?” box, you use the +New>Post, then even Chrome will still post here. Sorry for the hassle! We’ll keep you updated.

Hello Xta & Michael! It’s so great to “hear” your voices! 😀
The official announcement is waiting for all the cleanup work to finish (we’re working on this Talk site today!)
But the news is that we’re rolling all the disparate elements of the MU umbrella into just 2 MU main sites, the main site itself, and this talk site.
In the case of PBR, as you know, I bought that “.re” domain name, “practicebased.re/search”. .re is the country code for Reunion Island (Indian Ocean east of Madagascar) but like other country codes, it’s used for domain name hacks. The Tuvalu country code, .tv is often used by television stations. And the Reunion Island country code is used by Real Estate agents! 😛
Anyway, I had to get it from a funky domain name registrar since most of the normal registrars don’t, (or didn’t anyway) carry the .re tld. Not a big deal, and it wasn’t expensive at all, but each year I’d forget to renew it, and so the PBR sites would be down for a month or three till I remembered to renew it.
Meanwhile, it’s gotten quiet at the various MU units. We’re largely in hibernation mode – at least formal MU is – many of the peeps who’ve participated are, not surprisingly, working on all kinds of awesome projects! So this seems like a great time to consolidate all of the content we’ve strewn across cyberspace. As you probably know, I make way too many websites in the first place! 😛 And now in quiet mode, it seems like a lot of sites dilutes things. By collecting all of the content we’ve produced, it should be easier to find things, and easier to maintain.
Be sure to see our handy Table of Departments:
https://mediciuniversity.co.uk/about/#departments
it’s a great way to quickly navigate through a lot of content!
Also, at the bottom of every MU page, you’ll find that same table of departments, plus a chronologic archive, tags, and my personal favorite, This Week in MU History which lists the posts from different years that were published during this week in the calendar.
Once we finish with the reorganization, I’ll be inviting all of the ~60 authors who’ve participated in the various MU projects to make a What’s up [with me] now? post and share whatever they’re inclined to. I’m excited discover what all of our wonderful friends have been doing.
So great to hear from you Michael ‘n Xta!
What’s up [with you] now?
~ Vanessa
