    Welcome Week Machinima

Pearl created a great machinima on the first week (April 1 – 7) at MU CAA-VUP.  Features the architecture and some of the avatars who contributed to the virtual community.  Nice shots of the collaborative compound done by Pearl, Art, Klaus and Mr. Kaplan.  Thank you Pearl!

1st MUGA show: “Touch Me – While I Hold My Breath” by Gwynie Beaumont

The Medici University Gallery of Art is pleased to announce its first exhibition at the Art Farm (LEA28).

“Touch Me – While I Hold My Breath” by Gwynie Beaumont, an installation of sculpture on the MUGA grounds and a retrospective of her photography in the gallery.

Opening show 1 PM SLT, August 15, 2015.
The show will run through August 22.

Due to real life, I won’t be able to attend, but the artist will be available to answer questions. I hope you all can attend.

    The sculptures are really fun.

For the next show, I’d like to get everyone at the sim to contribute to an installation in the gallery. Make it a collaborative effort, the kind Edie envisioned. 😀

    Tai Chi Mastery

    Tai Chi Mastery Certificate

Thanks to everyone who participated in practicing silent (and not so silent) tai chi at the Vashti 2 dojo. I know that some of you practiced at other times that were more convenient for you. The scheduled practice is well documented on the Flickr MU Documentation group. A special thanks to Izzy who made it possible for us to create this calm retreat.

MU was about collaboration, not competition, and every contribution was valuable. That being said, I’d like to acknowledge Elle Thorkveld for her recognition that taking care of our bodies, spirits and minds with various practices is important. Even though she was prolific in her expressions of creativity and participation, she also made time to diligently practice the art of tai chi at MU.

And that is why this fun little certificate of tai chi mastery.

Generatives, glitch, and gifs MUGA opening

The Generatives, glitch, and gifs opening was held on Friday, June 5th. It was a nice event and there was a good turnout. The artists talked about their work and it was an opportunity for others on the campus and off to meet them.

Thank you everyone who helped with this event, loaned their work to the aspiring gallery, and attended this event. A special thanks to the artists – Pearl Grey, FeelsEmpty, Elle Thorkveld, and Michael Green – and to Oona for building the gallery.

The show will run through June 15. Please stop by if you haven’t had a chance to see the show. After that, I’ll try to do one last show, probably machinima.

Here are some pics from the event:

    BAOC Awarded to Emma Maybe!

Emma Maybe & Izzy Medici at Nostradamus-8 at Medici University at LEA23

Emma being modest and Me dancing with joy to an Ithaca Audio live mashup as I present the 12th weekly BAOC Award to Emma!

Last week’s BAOC Award Winner, Alexandre Lois declined to award someone new, so I’ve restarted it today, appropriately enough on Emma’s return to campus! Emma has a brand new trophy, made of the finest plywood and sanded to a perfect .5 x .5 x .5 meters.

On campus Emma has been a true Big Avatar On Campus, always greeting and engaging so many people. Always taking an interest and sharing genuine concern for campus colleagues. Awesome as Emma’s on campus contributions have been, her extended vacation has almost been more remarkable. Off on a long 6-week, SL-free trip, she’s used Slack (and hacked poor Slackbot with Rick Astley!) to remain a vital part of our campus conversation. Emma’s desire to be a part of this community has transcended even 6 weeks off-world. You can’t ask for more than that. You can’t dream of more than that.

    Welcome Home, Emma!

    Congratulations!

    BAOC awarded to Alexandre Lois

    baoc

This week I’m passing the Big Avatar on Campus award on to Alexandre. Alexandre is one of MU’s greatest contributors and most prolific artists. He is active on the blog, on campus, and he is a very diverse and talented artist.

If I had to say one thing about his art – and there’s lots to say – I’d say his art always makes me think, it makes me reconsider the world through his eyes. I love that. And his music is cool.

    Congratulations, Alexandre.

On a side note, I broke the award. I really couldn’t link my addition to it, but it’s on Alexandre’s studio, now. Sorry about that, Hope someone can fix it.

Passing along the BAOC award, I thank MU for this honor.  I would like to give the award to Oona Nostra (msbluerasp) in recognition of her diligent pleasance at MU. BAOC Award

It is hard to choose a new Big Avatar On Campus award winner from the many creative, involved individuals at MU, but one stood out to me and I select Newton. He has created an excellent series of classes with his Cafe Sophistry, which has already covered Gender and Virtuality and Time. Class sections start with an interesting philosophical discussion and end with the creation and display of art! In addition to facilitating the class, Newton has provided some delightful artistic entries and handled controversy in a graceful and thoughtful manner. I’m looking forward to the next section. Congratulations Newton!

CS Time Capsule Art Party TIME Update

Things have realigned and the CS Time Capsule Art Party can now happen at 8am SLT at Nostradamus 9. Just in case anyone did not receive this follow-up, I will still be hanging around Nostradamus 9 at 7amSLT making shady deals. But the official time of the Time Capsule Party will be 8am SLT. All the best – I think time had something to say about all of this!

Awesome. What does it entail? Revolt against the revolting.

      • Ryan 01:08 on 25/04/2015 Permalink | Reply

        Yes! Revolt against the revolting!

It really entails anything you want. It could be a humorous essay, some silly or fun fashion. Wearing demo stuff. Seriously making “recycled” fashions, or anything else that you think fits on an “un-fashion blog”

This sounds great! I can think of lots of things; just not sure where to post them but I guess we’ll find out.

What the hell is un-fashion. You do realize that even un-fashion is fashion right? Oona does not like this post. 😛

Have you seen the cerulean sweater scene in The Devil Wears Prada?

      • Myra 10:11 on 25/04/2015 Permalink | Reply

What color is your sweater, Ryan? 😀

      • Ryan 15:24 on 25/04/2015 Permalink | Reply

Yes Myra, I’ve seen the Cerulean sweater scene. But for the real scoop on Cerulean, watch Hennessy Youngman’s video on Post Structuralism. He covers Cerulean at 3:00

    • Oona 23:49 on 25/04/2015 Permalink | Reply

      I love cerulean

I might like to contribute something at some point Ryan. Be it an essay or some other trash. Sounds like a fun project, and right up my street!
