    A graduation gift for everyone

    emma-baoc

    Hi, everyone.

Emma Maybe made a graduation gift for everyone. I sent it out to the group in-world. If you missed it, just im me and I’ll give you a copy.

Everyone who had a studio at MU and many who didn’t, contributed to the success and wonder that was Medici University. In that spirit, this is a graduation gift for you all.

It’s an awesome gift, Emma’s awesome for making it, and you’re all awesome for taking part in MU.

Hope you enjoy it. Thanks for everything.

    Myra

    Medici University: A fond farewell

    Medici University: A fond farewell

Art and I wrote a little farewell piece for MU over at Creativity. Not quite a commencement speech, but a very hopeful sendoff. There are some very nice pictures of the campus, too.

Great post. I get very exasperated by WP requiring a different login for every blog I have to register in, so it’s nice to be able to comment here! I am so honored to be a small part of this incredible project and experience.

Thank you, Pay. It was such an amazing experience. I’m so happy to have been part of it.

    MU on Pinterest

Apparently we have too many MU websites! (IKR, I, Izzy, am an overblogger. Guilty!)

In an effort to make easy access to all of this content, I’ve indexed everything MU on Pinterest. Except for this MU/Talk part, which is 262 posts and too daunting!

Sadly, Pinterest forces you to make a (free) account to view the content. Lame, I know. But if you already have a Pinterest, or don’t mind signing up for one more thing, the index might be helpful. I hope so! LMK!

HELP! Pretty Please Save Our University!

    If the Help Desk Thinks...

As talked in proposals and acquisitions or whatever with Vanessa,  I’ve decided to throw together a proposal to do Medici University 2.  I’m sure anyone could do a better job, but my idea was to canvas everyone and compile all the greatness and show them why this place is such a great gem.

Worse they can do is laugh but the best that could happen, and the scariest, is they could agree with me.

Anyway.  I need all of you to please pretty pretty please answer these questions for me and I’ll compile them up into one thing.  Along with our Flickr pics that show how much fun we have, and just general guilt tripping, maybe it will happen!

Notecards would be best (msbluerasp resident), but contact me in whatever way is easiest for you.

    1.  Is Medici University important to you and why?

    2. How did you come to be here?

    3. If you think back on the first day to now, do you see growth in yourself?

    4. Has being amongst like minded creators, improved the amount of time you work on your creative side?

    5. What specifically do you enjoy about Medici U?

    6. Honestly, what specifically do you not enjoy about Medici U?

    7. What would you like to see here at Medici U that isn’t already here?

    8. What would encourage you to spend more time here at Medici U?

    9. Do you think its a good idea to extend or renew Medici University for a second go around?

Please answer these, and notecard, IM or even answer below.  I’ll likely try to get the proposal all squished together first week of May so please get them in soon.  🙂

Thank you fellow student/party animals!  <3 <3 xoxo

P.S. If you only have time for fast and dirty answers, that helps too.

Thank you to Kyle James at Flickr for his CC photo.

Loved your blog post. Where do I sign up for a tour? I have been riding around campus on the bikes you can get at the coffe place. That’s a fun fast way to see the changes that happen every day around here.

The dojo is really a nice quiet spot in campus. I go there to slack and hide from izzy when she starts assigning work :D.

The bikes are amazing. You can get out of ANY pinch. Stuck in a mobius strip? Just pedal harder and you’ll fly out of there! Stuck in a prim maze? Ride faster! I haven’t checked to see if you can fly, but you can definitely make Y turns!

    ## Edie’s Farm VR Edition I was forwarded…

    Edie’s Farm – VR Edition

I was forwarded a message from Hugh about helping out with a VR Construction project. (awesome! 🙂

Hugh had heard about a VR Medici University Campus, which Izzy has graciously pushed back to 2015 so that we can focus on creating Edie’s Farm starting on 1 August 2014. The website doesn’t currently have information on the VR Project, but here it is:
    http://edies.farm

I’m applying for an “LEA AIR” or Linden Endowment for the Arts, Artist in Residence Land Grant. If Edie’s Farm is selected as one of their Land Grant Recipients (gosh Ysidora, nobody deserves a compensatory land grant more than you!) then Edie’s Farm will begin on a generous 6.5 hectare plot of virtual land. Much like Warhol’s Factory this will be a collaborative place for experiments and activities. We may put some elements up to make it cozy, but the focus will be less on construction goals and more on inspired activities.

I hope everyone will come visit, participate, and play!

    • xtaforster 16:36 on 17/06/2014 Permalink | Reply

Good luck with the application. Let me know if I can help you. Ysidora and I will participate, no doubt!!

Yes brothers and husbands can sometimes be the…

Yes, brothers and husbands can sometimes be the lowest vermin. It’s old news. But people can also be so beautiful. This 21st century is about exponential possibilities. The 16th was about a scarcity of possibilities, even for a Medici Princess. Yet for all the abundance of this time, I am troubled by 2 trends: sedentary lifestyles and academic lethargy.

Everything is better, save for our bodies and minds sliding into disuse. Too much of both work and play is now experienced from a chair parked in front of a flat-screen. The university has become too much about the pursuit of a piece of paper, not about a rich, humanist education. And so I offer Izzy’s Gym and Medici University, new hopes in a new century for our reinvention, body and soul.

    Medici University: Alternative MFA Programs

    logo for Medici University

    Hello Mr. Donnie,
Please allow me to ask you a serious question if I may. Do you plan to spend the rest of your life waking up in yet another dank, urine reeking alley with no idea how you got there? Or would you like to seize this 2nd chance at life and do something more with it?

I have decided to open Medici University and offer Alternative MFA programs. Would you consider being a faculty member? We will support the publication of your 1st book Ventriloquism for Dummies. I believe that on the success of this volume, you could write an entire series of books under the clever heading “For Dummies.”

Here is the university prospectus, let me know of your interest.

    Regards,

    Isabella Medici

Geez, Princess, I’d be honored, I guess. Every hallowed institution of learning needs at least one odd-ball professor, eh, Princess?
(The book’s been written, though, kid. Redit).

Already written? Redit? Please to explain kind sir. Apparently there are certain disadvantages to taking 438 year naps!
