Spreading the Love and my Art (If you want it.).
I owe a lot to my MU experience. All the people I’ve met here and everything I’ve learned has made my time at MU personally transformational.
Sooo… I’d like to give something back to everyone. If anyone wants a work of my art, please contact me in-world, let me know which one you’d like, and I’ll put it on one of Emma’s canvases for you.
You can browse my work on my flickr feed. It’s all been done since I started at MU. I think some of it is nice. I’m clearly still learning, though.
This has been a truly amazing experience for me.
I love you all. Thank you.
Myra
Myra, thank you for your most generous offer! I’m taking you up on that, your work is lovely. If we’d had more time I would have loved to see a photography exhibit will all the many talented photogs we have here.
Like you, I feel I owe a lot to MU, I’ve grown in my skill & confidence, willingness to try new things and met so many wonderful people & gifted artists.
Thank you for all you do, in your art, DJ’ing, curating and wonderful MU attitude.
Love to you,
Elle.

We’ve got a new flickr group just focused on the beautiful 2D images, from digital design, to figure studies, to conceptual art, that you all create.
Here’s the breakdown on our 5 MU Flickr groups:
I’m going to buy one of those bottles and stick you in it.
Ha! Promise?
Yes. And I’m serious.
Oh I know you are.
I’ll let you out but only when it amuses me.
You don’t have to trap me.
I know. But I wanna be sure you don’t get away.
You have to want to get away to actually get away.
I’ll give you air occasionally. Every 6 hours.
Promise?
Yes I promise.
Deal.
I was surfing through the Medici University photo group on Flickr, looking for images to use with a new post in Astrid’s April A-2-Z Challenge, and was disappointed to discover that the majority of photos there are “© All Rights Reserved” and can’t be used by anyone for anything. 🙁
I realize a lot of MU Learners are very controlling (ha! It’s like D/s University around here!) but it also occurred to me that some MU peeps might simply not know that Flickr defaults to ©ARR and that it’s so easy to set it for a creative commons sharing license under the terms of your choice. I’ll show you the how first and then say a bit about the why at bottom.
You can go straight to your “Default License” settings here:
https://www.flickr.com/account/prefs/license
Ryan, it’s probably less about being controlling and more about All Rights Reserved being the default setting.
Thanks for the information. I’ll try to set my rights to an appropriate level as soon as I can.
I notice that the pictures uploaded to Flickr directly from the firestorm viewer default to all rights reserved. Anyone have experience changing this?
And btw, any MU learner has my permission to use my pictures that are in the MU Flickr group for MU-related projects. Don’t worry about the copyright notice cuz I hereby grant you permission. I do think it’s extra awesome if you contact me and tell me about the project.
Done
I’ve gotten the go ahead to post individual posts for A to Z challenges since there aren’t a lot of us doing it. I find it easier to keep track of new stuff on MU Talk anyway to be able to know I haven’t missed anything. So feel free to do the same. Read about my letter R at Flickr or on the blog I share with Ryan.

Notes from our organizational meetup:

I love Elle and Oona’s proposal as well as some of the others.
I’m not interested in doing a proposal or portfolio of my own but I’d be pleased to help if I can.
I might write a testimonial. I wouldn’t have considered myself an artist of any sort before MU, but now I think I have a little cred.
Great Pearl & Myra! Help is good. It’s really Oona’s idea, I thought it was a good one and offered to help out if I could.
It would be really exciting if a place like MU, where anyone can seriously explore their creativity in an open setting, could become a permanent fixture on some level, similarly to how Chic Aeon’s machinema project has. A rotation of visionaries leading the way really seems like the way to go too. I wish everyone the best in getting these proposals accomplished (and beyond)!
Wooohoo Team continue MU!!
Thank Astrid for her challenge. It’s been inspiring and fun.
I agree, Astrid’s Challenge has been great for me too. Very fun.
I feel like such a rotten lazy bad non-person person. I have not even participated in the challenge! I deserve a good lashing.
Aww, no beating up on yourself! We’ve all got different schedules, priorities, paths!
And besides, all the cool stuff others are doing is only because you brought it up! You empowered others!!
Although, if you really do want a lashing… I’m pretty sure there are a few learners on campus who enjoy that sort of thing! Message me privately for a discreet list of names!! 😛
We have a new MU Flickr group, MU Visiting Artists!
We now have 3 public groups and 1 private group on Flickr:
• Medici University (main group)
• KATYPERRYOPOLIS!
• MU Visiting Artists

Hey Learners!
Astrid’s challenging us to do A-Z in April! If you’re a blogger, you could Blog A-Z. But everybody can play! Photographers can Flickr A-Z, Chefs can Pinterest A-Z, Tweeters can Tweet A-Z, etc!
We can setup a place to feature what the participants are up to, or maybe 2 places, 1 inworld and 1 online!
Mercy! I did this last year with the Alphabet Inventory. Hmmm.
i would do it on tumblr. Poets A-Z here is the first. http://veyot.tumblr.com/
I love this idea, count me in, on Flickr.
now have their very own Flickr group!

Hello friends! How lovely it was to see you last Monday and hearing your news! I have a couple of links to share…
And Hugh, I’m hoping you’ll share some of your links on Arabic vs Middle Eastern art.
Speaking of the Middle East and collaborating across borders, you all might be interested in this project from Golden Thread here in SF: http://www.goldenthread.org/alo/
I am about to embark on a long-term exploration about personal relationships to cities. Working title: City Creature. I’m fascinated by the ways in which we imagine the places we live as living beings, and the relationships we have with them. One of the first “ways in” that I’m exploring is to collect some imagined creatures of others. I love worksheets and filling out forms, so here’s a City Creature worksheet:

I’d be delighted if you all could share a bit about your city there.
Until soon!
Rebecca L
Just filled out your cool survey Rebecca! Sorry it took me so long, but definitely had a nice time on it.
Will you be attending the Nov Berry Hangout on Mon? If so, would you like to talk about City Creature?
I made a Flickr group where we can share:
1. pix of our hangouts
2. pix of our collaborative projects
3. pix to discuss in the next hangout
4. pix of projects any of us are working on

Please join the group and add any pix you like!
